In our Chile and Thailand programmes there are variety of reasons why children come into the care of the State. These reasons include neglect, ill treatment or abandonment.

Most of the Thai children in need of intercountry adoption are between 12 months and 7 years of age. Younger children are generally placed with younger applicants.

Children with special needs include sibling groups, children over 4 years of age, children with health or behavioural problems, children born to parents with mental illness and children born through incest.

Most of the children in Chile in need of intercountry adoption are sibling groups and children aged between 5 and 10 years, with an average age of 7 years and 6 months.
